Enphase takes a fundamentally different approach to solar than string-inverter systems: each panel gets its own microinverter, so shading or a single underperforming module never drags down the rest of the array. Enphase IQ8 microinverters also enable Sunlight Backup — the array keeps producing daytime power even during a grid outage.

Paired with the Enphase IQ Battery 5P (5 kWh modular) or IQ Battery 10 (10 kWh), an Enphase home energy system gives you whole-home backup, time-of-use bill optimization, and a single app (Enphase Enlighten) for production + consumption + storage. Microinverter vs. String Inverter: Why It Matters

Most solar arrays have one central (string) inverter. Enphase puts a small microinverter behind every panel. That single design choice changes how the system behaves in shade, in failure, and in your bill.

Every panel is wired in series into one inverter. If one panel is shaded, dirty, or underperforming, the whole string runs at the lowest panel’s rate. You see total system output — you can’t see which panel has the problem.

Tesla Solar Roof tiles carry a 25-year tile warranty and a 25-year power warranty. The non-solar glass tiles are rated for the lifetime of your roof. Most Solar Roof installations are designed to outlast the underlying structure.

What's the difference between Tesla Solar Roof and standard solar panels?

Tesla Solar Roof replaces your roof entirely — the photovoltaic tiles ARE the roof. Standard solar panels are mounted on top of an existing roof. Solar Roof has a cleaner aesthetic and integrated warranty, while standard panels are typically more affordable per kilowatt of capacity and can be added to a healthy existing roof.

How much backup power does a PowerWall provide?

Each Tesla Powerwall 3 stores 13.5 kWh of usable energy and can deliver 11.5 kW continuous output. For a typical Chicagoland home, one Powerwall covers essential loads (lights, refrigerator, internet, furnace fan) for up to 24 hours.

How long does solar installation take?

Standard solar panel installation usually completes in 2–5 days on the roof, plus permit and utility interconnection time (4–12 weeks total from contract). Tesla Solar Roof takes 5–14 days on-site due to full roof replacement. Powerwall-only installations finish in 1–2 days. We schedule weather-managed and keep your roof tarped daily during open phases.

What financing options are available?

We offer cash purchase, solar loans (no money down, fixed monthly payment over 10–25 years), and Tesla’s manufacturer financing for Solar Roof + Powerwall packages. Illinois homeowners also have access to the Illinois Shines program and various utility rebates. We walk you through the right structure based on your monthly cost goals, and grid contract preferences.

What warranty covers my system?

Tesla Solar Roof: 25 years tiles + 25 years power. Tesla Powerwall: 10 years warranty with 70% capacity retention. Standard solar panels: typically 25 years performance + 12 years product (manufacturer-dependent — SolarEdge, Enphase, Q Cells, REC). SolarEdge inverters: 12 years standard, 25 years extended.
