Enphase Microinverters & IQ Battery Backup

Enphase IQ8 microinverters and IQ Battery 5P / IQ Battery 10 home energy systems — installed across Illinois.

Overview

Enphase takes a fundamentally different approach to solar than string-inverter systems: each panel gets its own microinverter, so shading or a single underperforming module never drags down the rest of the array. Enphase IQ8 microinverters also enable Sunlight Backup — the array keeps producing daytime power even during a grid outage.

Paired with the Enphase IQ Battery 5P (5 kWh modular) or IQ Battery 10 (10 kWh), an Enphase home energy system gives you whole-home backup, time-of-use bill optimization, and a single app (Enphase Enlighten) for production + consumption + storage. We install full Enphase systems and retrofit existing arrays with IQ Battery.

Key Features

  • IQ8 microinverters: per-panel optimization, no single point of failure
  • Sunlight Backup: array keeps producing during outages, no battery required
  • IQ Battery 5P (5 kWh) or IQ Battery 10 (10 kWh) for whole-home backup
  • 15-year microinverter warranty; 10-year IQ Battery warranty
  • Battery-retrofit option for existing solar arrays
  • Enphase Enlighten app: real-time per-panel performance

Microinverter vs. String Inverter: Why It Matters

Most solar arrays have one central (string) inverter. Enphase puts a small microinverter behind every panel. That single design choice changes how the system behaves in shade, in failure, and in your bill.

Traditional String Inverter

Every panel is wired in series into one inverter. If one panel is shaded, dirty, or underperforming, the whole string runs at the lowest panel’s rate. You see total system output — you can’t see which panel has the problem.

Enphase IQ8 Microinverter

Each panel runs through its own microinverter. Shade on one corner of the roof doesn’t bottleneck the rest. The Enphase app shows per-panel performance, so a single underperforming module is something we can find and fix — not something hidden in the total.

IQ Battery: Modular, Start Small, Scale Up

x

IQ Battery 5P

Best for: starter backup — essentials only (fridge, lights, outlets, WiFi).

5 kWh modular block. Adds Sunlight Backup so the array keeps producing daytime power during a grid outage — even without enough battery to back the whole home.

x

IQ Battery 10

Best for: whole-home backup for a typical residence.

10 kWh in a single enclosure. Pairs with IQ8 microinverters and the Enphase app for time-of-use bill optimization and outage backup.

x

Stack for Larger Homes

Best for: high-load homes (EV charging, electric heat, multiple HVAC zones).

Add IQ Battery 5P modules in 5 kWh increments up to whole-home capacity. Same app, same warranty path, scales with what you actually need.

PowerPay Solar Financing

$0-down financing for residential solar through PowerPay. Quick credit decision, fixed monthly payment, and the Illinois Shines REC payment still belongs to you — not a leasing company. We pull the application paperwork in-house so you sign once.

Our Process

S

1. Consultation

Free in-home consultation. We review your energy bills, roof orientation, shading, and goals to recommend the right system — Solar Roof, panels, Powerwall, or a combination.

F

2. Site Assessment & Estimate

Detailed roof + structural assessment, sun-exposure modeling, and an itemized estimate with financing options and a current-incentive projection (Illinois Shines RECs, ComEd rebates).

3. Installation

Permits, utility interconnection paperwork, then on-site installation. Tarped daily, weather-managed, completed in 2–14 days depending on system type.

4. Activation & Monitoring

Utility commissioning, Tesla app setup (or SolarEdge / Enphase monitoring portal), and walkthrough. Full manufacturer warranties registered plus our written installation workmanship guarantee — specific terms in your estimate.

Service Area

From Tesla Solar Roof installations in Highland Park and Lake Forest to Tesla Powerwall backup systems in Barrington and Arlington Heights, from residential solar panels in Glenview and Northbrook to full energy systems in Chicago, Wheaton, and Lake Zurich — we serve homeowners across Chicagoland’s North Shore, northwest, and west suburbs.
