Overview
SolFence is a vertical bifacial solar fence: the fence panels themselves are PV modules, so the structure that gives you a privacy barrier along the lot line also generates electricity. Vertical bifacial systems produce a flatter daily curve than rooftop solar (morning and afternoon peaks instead of one midday spike), which lines up better with how most households actually use power.
SolFence is well suited to properties where the roof isn’t optimal for solar — heavy shade, north-facing slope, slate/cedar/clay tile that the homeowner doesn’t want penetrated, or HOAs that restrict rooftop arrays. It can also supplement an existing rooftop system to fill in production gaps. All American Solar Solutions is an authorized SolFence installer in the Chicagoland market.

When Your Roof Can’t, Your Fence Can
Some properties just aren’t great solar candidates from the roof. SolFence puts the array on the property line instead — same Illinois Shines incentive eligibility, same grid interconnection, very different install.
Heavy Shade
Best for: mature trees, neighboring buildings, or a north-facing roof.
If your roof gets cooked by shade most of the day, rooftop solar will underperform regardless of brand or inverter type. A vertical south-facing fence often has cleaner sun exposure than the roof above it.
Slate, Cedar, or Clay Tile Roof
Best for: roof materials that shouldn’t be penetrated for racking.
Slate, cedar shake, and clay tile roofs are expensive, fragile, and bad candidates for PV bracket penetrations. Leave the roof intact — the solar goes on the fence.
HOA Restrictions
Best for: neighborhoods that restrict visible rooftop arrays.
Some HOAs limit visible rooftop panels but say nothing about fences. SolFence reads as a privacy fence from the street — check your specific HOA covenants, but for many it’s a legitimate path.
Bonus: a flatter production curve
Rooftop solar peaks at midday and falls off sharply morning and evening. Vertical bifacial SolFence panels — PV cells on both sides — produce strongest in morning and late afternoon. That lines up better with how most households actually use power: getting ready in the morning, cooking dinner at night.

2. Site Assessment & Estimate
Detailed roof + structural assessment, sun-exposure modeling, and an itemized estimate with financing options and a current-incentive projection (Illinois Shines RECs, ComEd rebates).
3. Installation
Permits, utility interconnection paperwork, then on-site installation. Tarped daily, weather-managed, completed in 2–14 days depending on system type.
4. Activation & Monitoring
Utility commissioning, Tesla app setup (or SolarEdge / Enphase monitoring portal), and walkthrough. Full manufacturer warranties registered plus our written installation workmanship guarantee — specific terms in your estimate.
